I'm in the middle of revising a YA novella for an anthology and the guy putting it together wants more romance. ARG! This is why I write MG. Romance makes me gag. He told me to introduce the female-romantic-interest sooner. But it kind of screws up the plot if I do. Right now I just wrote her in a cameo appearence earlier, but I know he's going to say, "Write a scene where they interact". But that's not the plotline. Silly YA peeps wanting romance. Isn't adventure and character good enough for them?
In my MG novel, writing it was the most difficult, but revising was pretty easy. With this YA novella, it's the opposite. But I keep plugging away (at the pace of a comatose snail).
Git 'er done!
