Okay, this really has absolutely NOTHING to do with writing. Honestly, I couldn't think of anything to write about the novel today. But, I collect and show Breyer (and a few customized Stones) model horses. I probably own roughly around a 100 or so, possibly a few better than that. I show with the Breyer Original Finish Club, All Brands Model Horse Association, the International Pedigree Assignment and Bloodline Research Association, and the Model Equine Photo Showers Association. Some of the shows are online, and some are mail-ins. I love it.

I show all different breeds of horses, and right now I am pedigreeing my big herd, which means finding parents for them. Yes, we model people really do that. It's fun :-) I also judge for these clubs, which can be quite time-consuming. But again, I love it.

On April 30, I'm attending my first live model horse show, where you take your models to the show grounds and show them against other people's horses. Should be a ball; my sister is going with me to help "load" the horses in their classes. So all day I get to geek out with other model horse people!!!!!

I mainly show in halter, but am going to get my act together this year and also do performance. I show horses in different sizes, too: Traditionals, about 9" to 10" tall; Classics, about 7"-8" tall; and Stablemates/Chips, which are about 3"-4" high. Putting saddles and bridles on the little guys can be hard, but I have some pretty cool props for them, so it makes it worth it. And I just found a website that sells fantastic background pictures, including all kinds of castles!! So I'm pretty excited about that.

Can you tell I LOVE this hobby?? I haven't had a real horse in about seven years, and even though I'll probably be getting another one next year or the year after, these little guys and gals fill a void that desperately needs filling. I even got my sister into collecting some, though she hasn't started showing. Several of my horses are champions, and they did great at the Year End Awards for the Breyer club.

So anyway, if you'd like to know more about my fantasticly fun hobby, just let me know :-)

Wow, Linda, have to admit I never knew so much about the model horse hobby.  You seem to have such passion about it; are you writing a book on the subject?  Good to see you here.  I'm new to YALITCHAT and finding my way around.  Good luck in the show!
