YALITCHAT Female Writers Blaze up the NewYork Times Best Seller List in 2010
I believe I am right in stating that there was not one week this year that a YALITCHAT member was numbered the New York Times Best Seller List for all of 2010. Well, there was a few but it sounded good and I have clicked through all 52 weeks to compare so I can exaggerate a little. Our members are: (In no particular order)
Maggie Stiefvater Shiver 12 weeks in 2010 (32 weeks overall)
Linger 13 weeks
Becca Fitzpatrick Hush Hush…

Reader Advice Needed!
As some of you may know, I have been working on the sequel to Vampyre Kisses. I am planning to have it done by the end of this year. ::crosses fingers::
Well, when my book first came out a reader (now fan) of Vampyre Kisses mentioned that they wanted to find out more information about werewolves. That wasn’t a problem since I had planned to make the second book to the Vampyre Kisses series about the werewolves and their history.
I have been researching…

Winning Promotion
Reena Jacobs as give me such a fabulous idea for promoting my book that I had to share it with everyone! I plan on going through my 2010 blog tour list and picking a couple of hosts to have a book giveaway on their site! But that isn't the BEST part. Along with giving away a free copy of Vampyre Kisses, I plan on everyone who didn't win getting a 50% off coupon for the eBook of Vampyre Kisses. So EVERYONE wins! How great of an idea! Thank you so much Reena!
Along with this, I…

My latest picture book, Frederico the Mouse Violinist, has just been released!
Hi all,
I'm happy to announce that my latest children’s book, Frederico, the Mouse Violinist, has just been released by Guardian Angel Publishing.
The book teaches the parts of the violin to beginner players and entertains them with a fun, educational story about a little mouse who lives in Antonio Stradivari’s workshop. Activities at the end of the book included.
About the book:
Frederico is a little mouse with a big dream: he wants to…

A writing workshop from a literary agency....how much would you pay?
Curtis Brown Agency in the U.K will be launching their first ever writers workshop. With evening courses, individual mentoring sessions and a full critique of your work-in-progress. I'm not sure which is more of a shame that they only have 15 positions available or that we are a mere five thousand or so miles away. What grabbed my attention was the possibility of representation after the course.
Here's hoping that agencies realize (if they haven't already) this income…

Coupons and Pormotions
Last week a few of you might have seen some of my tweets or facebook posts saying that I was doing a new top-secret promotion. Well it wasn’t really THAT top secret. Hehehe. Here is what I did.
I got some advice from a friend and decided to make coupons for my eBook. On smashwords you can do this. You can also control how long the coupon runs for. I can be a little impatient so I decide to run a 50% off coupon for Vampyre Kisses for one day. I also chose to do it one…

Chapter Twelve
A Raised Hand
Kan Lam looked up across the meeting ground at the tall houses, whose peaks showed above the intervening hedgeline. He scowled, and spat once into the dirt at his feet. Glancing about hurriedly he scuffed dust over the spit with his dirty toe. He looked back…

It can be a very fine line between ordinary and extraordinary; the submission that stands out, that goes on to achieve a great sale – and the one that just doesn’t quite make it.
I’m thinking a lot about this at the moment as I start preparation on my speech for SCBWI Florida in January. My title is ‘FROM ORDINARY TO EXTRAORDINARY: The art of creating a…
