The balance between entertainment and education

I am writing a middle grades book, and I want to include some educational knowledge in the book, but I'm wondering how much is too much. My book is science fiction, but includes a storyline about maps and exploration, with some references back to the ancient Greeks, which the main character is studying in school. I don't necessarily have to include that, but I think it would be possible to include it without making the reader feel like they are being taught. I've certainly read books that have…See More

Do you love the process of writing?

Something I wonder - do most writers love the writing process, or is it always a struggle for them like it is for me?  I really like when I get a finished process, and I love coming up with ideas, but I find writing process itself tedious and sometimes very frustrating.    I read a writer's article recently that stated that any author who has writer's block or didn't want to write just didn't research enough, and I thought it was a bit naive.
