"   One thing you could try is having your characters doing something while they're talking. Have them take a walk on the beach, and in between their dialogue, describe the water, the sand, the pieces of old wood that have washed up on…"

A Little Help?

I've started writing once again. I'm having so much trouble thinking of things to write about. But when I do have an idea, all I get is dialogue. My characters seem to talk forever, with only little bits of action. Does anyone have any advice on how I could change that? All comments or suggestions are welcome. How could I include more of a balance of dialogue and actions? If so, can I please have some examples to follow? I'm stuck between a rock and my writer's block. I just want to write for…See More

"Thanks for all of the advice. I'll think of these things when I'm editing my story. The writing world is new to me, but I'm slowly starting to understand. So I'll just keep on writing and editing until I get it right. "

"I just take a deep breath. Then I take a break from my writing. I sit outside and enjoy nature for a while. When my mind is cleared, I let the ideas come to me. I don't try to strain my brain as much. And then I start up my writing again."

Kenya Anderson replied to Jennifer Duffey's discussion What do Teens want?
"Teens just want to live life to the fullest, and explore the world. They want to find out who they really are, while discovering their full potential. They want to be admired, and admire others. And overall, teens just want to be teens. "

Kenya Anderson replied to Georgia McBride's discussion Why are you telling your story? Do you even know?
"I write because it's a way for me to get my dreams down on paper. It's how I express a thought that suddenly comes to me. I don't want to lose the thought, so I just start writing. And that eventually turns into a story. But…"
