Sorry, but I didn't get that previous message. I can try to give you some help before I leave Sunday morning. Send it over and I'll see what I can do. I hate queries and mine are always hours of trauma to write. :-)

Hi Jennifer and thanks for watching that interview. Wasn't Wendy something? Very cool interviewer.

Are you working on your ms? Hope so. I really liked your idea. Got to thinking about it the other day and was reminded of the book called Griffin and Sabine. It's totally not like your story (in fact G&S is a novelty book, but beautiful) , but the idea of a non-existent person is at the heart of it. It takes the reader a while to figure out that Sabine is only in Griffin's mind and that while he receives letters from her all the time he will never meet her. She's idealized in his mind and he yearns for her and the reader at first wants them to get together and then there's that moment of, "Oh, no. Poor Griffin." I'm not sure this is what you want, but thought I'd pass it along in case it rings some bells while you're writing. All my best, Lee

Hi Jennifer, just checking if you're still looking for a critique partner. My novel Gilded Youth (50,000) seems to share some similar themes with Battleground. Anyway, if you're interested this is the blurb:

At the prestigious Ail Mermot School Darius Hadfield feasts on the fruits of his          father’s labour. And why not? After all, his father will be prime minister one day. Everything changes, however, when Darius murders a fellow student in cold blood. Now he must evade the authorities and, most of all, his father. He hides out at an exclusive London hotel but the police track him down and he’s forced to take to the streets. Darius’s fugitive status isn’t helped by Peter, a manifestation of his conscious, who won’t let him rest in his search for salvation. Darius realises that no matter how far he runs his father will never be far behind.

Thanks for the comment on my blog, and for the compliment.  I haven't approved it yet only because I managed to break the Wordpress blog through injudicious use of plugins.  Hopefully, my friend whose server my blog is on will be able to fix it before tomorrow...
