Jamie Weil replied to Georgia McBride's discussion Meet and GreetI have recently finished my first YA project which I've worked on for the last three years. (I'm certain my next one will go faster!) The novel is called First Break. Living in LA for 30 years makes me think in taglines so here's the one for my novel: when your first break from home, is your first break with reality.
I also freelance for magazines and newspapers on an ongoing basis. I write picture books in between rewrites of drafts of the longer works. I have just recently become an active YA LITCHAT member and have been an active SCBWI for four years. I now live in a very rural, horse town in Northern California near Mt. Shasta.

No problem. I'm new here, so I thought I'd start to get to know some people. We seem to have some things in common...I am also a teacher and a former reporter. Do you write picture books?
