Multicultural YA Lit Mentor Wanted

I am currently a senior in the Adult Degree Program at Prescott College obtaining my Bachelor's in Nonprofit Management (I live in Phoenix). Prescott College (www.prescott.edu) is a very unique school in which the students are tasked with creating their own degree program and finding mentors within their community--or nationally, or internationally--to mentor (aka "teach") their courses. This is a learning-by-doing method unlike the typical…See More

Writing Terms

I need some assistance with some homework. I'm currently taking a Fundraising course and for my assignment on "memberships", I need to come up with a membership campaign for my future nonprofit. Since it's going to involve writing, I'd like to use writing terms/references for the different levels (i.e. if a donor contributes between $xx-$xx, they're in the Beta Readers Club.) Suggestions would be greatly appreciated. See More

This semester, I’m taking Advanced Children’s Lit (referred to here as ACL). As part of my Creative Project, I’ve decided to post the first five chapters of A Royale Pain, Book One in my Draven Atreides, Teenage Informant series on my author blog:

A day at the spa can be a “royale” pain.

Sixteen-year-old Draven Atreides has just started a new gig as an FBI informant. Her To Do…

Writing Movement: Week of 7-19

Posted on July 27, 2010 at 4:00pm 0 Comments

Missed two days of writing last week, but I still got 16 handwritten pages in. The rest of it was previously written material. Not too bad. Not sure how many typewritten pages that turned out to be, but I was able to submit the 1st 30 pages for my CWII class. Here's hoping I have better movement this week.

Writing Movement: Week of 7-12

Posted on July 21, 2010 at 12:53pm 0 Comments

The revision process for Book 2 hasn't been too bad. I had to write a revision outline for my CWII class and I'm not used to doing those. I'm a pantser by nature and tend to have an "Well, let's see what happens" type of attitude. I have to admit that I had help with the outline. A friend and co-worker who's familiar with the series helped me crank out an outline. I have some guidance now, so it's a little easier to write.

Last week I hand wrote 22 pages. The rest was…
