Am I the only one who feels like there is a new birthday party invite in the mail every week? With so many invites I've got party on the brain. I've got a while before I need to plan another one, but…Continue

Comment by Sarah Negovetich on March 16, 2013 at 1:24pm My kids are young as well, but the hubs is a professor so he kinda got the week off. Unfortunately, I caught the stomach bug so only hubby and our oldest went camping. On the plus side I lost 2 lbs from not being able to eat. *Note this is not a recommended way to lose the baby weight* :)

Comment by Eliza Tilton on March 15, 2013 at 9:39pm My kids are still young (under 4). No break for me.
On another notes, I bought a digital scale to help me lose some of that post-partum weight. It OBVIOUSLY is broken and will be going back to the store.
I'll stick with the non-digital scale that says I'm 7lbs lighter : p

Comment by Sarah Negovetich on March 4, 2013 at 9:59am It's spring again (or almost depending on where you live). In literary land, that means it's time for lot of conferences and contests. I personally think contests are perfect the the perturbed parent since you can get your work in front of tons of agents without the time consuming work of sending all those individual queries. What do you guys think about contests? What are your favorite ones?

Comment by Sarah Negovetich on February 4, 2013 at 3:07am Hey guys! I came across this great blog post about how we can stay engaged online and even learn from it without feeling like we are sinking under. Lots of really great tips in here.

I'm right with you Stephanie and Eliza. They do grow extremely fast; trust me. My oldest turned 19 in August and left for his freshman year in college, while I still have a 16, 14, and 9 year old at home. Balancing the swift pace life moves with our writing is quite tough. Cherish every moment while they are young. And while you're at it, write down experiences you share with them. You can always use that for material later on... :)

Comment by Sarah Negovetich on January 24, 2013 at 12:37am Thanks, Eliza. I needed to hear that tonight. I got home from critique group an hour ago and realized I couldn't do anything else until I cleaned the family room. It was seriously a war zone because this past week I was working and playing with the kids and there just wasn't time. I was starting to feel like a bad mom because the house was such a wreck. Sometimes it's okay to have a dirty house.
Comment by Stephanie Keyes on January 23, 2013 at 9:18pm You're very welcome. Good! I started with a local critique group last May and they had meant the world to me. I've learned alot and made some great friends. That really helps when my kids (6 years and 16 mos) are acting insane! Good luck and hang in girl!

Comment by Eliza Tilton on January 23, 2013 at 9:12pm thanks Stephanie! This past Saturday I checked out my local Romance writers chapter. Spent the whole day with other writers. Loved it. You're so right. We need that mommy time. Sometimes I forget that...
