You're at a stop light. The sun is glaring off the windshield, so you lean to the right, dodging the rays. That's when you notice a boy around 12 years old riding a bike on the sidewalk parallel to you. Coming towards you. Baseball cap on backwards, sneakers untied, torn jeans, and a tattered package under his arm. And he's panting. Heavily. Maybe a bit too heavily. His cheeks are flushed, but the rest of his face is paling. You watch it, color dripping from his forehead. Something's wrong. You feel it in your bones.
And you have the beginnings of a new story.
For this discussion, I'd like to chat about how you formulate ideas. Where do your stories come from. What about when you are blocked for ideas. What techniques of inspirations do you use?
Have at it, my friends. Let's discuss!
Since I write Scifi - mostly, I get a lot of my ideas from science magazines, video games, my kids and dreams (mostly nightmares).
