On one of my novels I know what I want to happen but I'm having a hard time filling in the gaps between those things happening.  I have these things set that I want to happen but setting them up to happen is what I'm having trouble with.

I heard a very prolific author once say that you shouldn't be asking what happens next, you should ask what would my character do next. It's all about your MC's motivations... what she/he wants. Perhaps if you think about those things, it'll help with the gaps.
