So, how's that WIP coming along? Share with us how many words you're at, what your daily writing goals are, and any sticking points you're having with your WIP. Most of us have families and/or day jobs, how do you overcome those pleasant (and sometimes unpleasant *cough* *diaper change* *cough*) distractions?

So, you're a plotter, huh? It's funny how people's minds work differently. I'm a pantser (write by the seat of my pants). Sometimes in revision, I wish I was a plotter! haha. Best of luck. I have a son in 5th grade who reads quite a bit. Let me know if you need a beta reader.

I have to be, otherwise, nothing would ever get done and I would constantly go back and rewrite. Thanks! :)

Permalink Reply by Elodie on December 15, 2011 at 2:15pm So excited I reached 47k today and I still have a lot of steam :-)) Could I be finishing the first draft before 2012? :-)
Nice work! We may be finishing around the same time!
Permalink Reply by Ottilie Weber on December 19, 2011 at 3:47pm The main story I'm working on right now is a modern fairy tale. I'm pretty excited! I'm about 22,000 words, the past week I made the goal to write 2,000 words each night after studying for my finals all day. The semester just ended so I'll have more free time! I'm just hoping to be able to still focus even given the new time...

Permalink Reply by Sarah Neeve on December 20, 2011 at 9:21am I'm currently 98,000+ words into my first draft of a fantasy/myth story. I am also writing a series of books for children, and a horror story too. I find it helps having various storylines brewing in my head, and helps with the dreaded writers block. So I flit from one to the other, sometimes writing 100-200 words, to writing a complete 6000+ chapter.
I don't work, giving me more time to pursue my need to write, don't know if that's a good thing or not, but it helps.
