Would you say that a full manuscript deconstruct would prepare my manuscript for literary agencies? I'm willing to work back-and-forth on creating a submission ready manuscript, if this service was created for that. I believe you charge $4/page?
Thank you,
Jennifer

Jennifer--I can't discuss your particular project because I have no idea what it is. But YES. In general the deconstruct is meant to prepare you for submnission if that is your goal. HOWEVER, in some cases, it can reveal major issues which require a massive rewrite OR a complete re-imagining of your story. The deconstruct is in place to examine the core structure of the novel--is it sound? Then I look at the layers--pacing, plot, voice, tension, characterization, sub-plots, authenticity, tone, mythology, etc. It's a lot of work--but well worth it. We dig deep. I am happy to discuss with you in detail and yes the deconstruct is $4/pp through the end of this month. Feel free to email me at georgia at georgiamcbride dot com. I'm happy to provide references. My clients are very happy. You can also see the work I do by visiting the Agent Mailbox here on YALITCHAT.ORG--though it is not as extensive as what I do with my clients. It gets results.

This sounds similar to what I do in my webinars. I'm not sure it would be financially feasible for an editor OR the group to do it in person or that often. Would you consider trying it virtually? What I do with my webinar students is take pages from each and do live crits for everyone in the class to see/read along/follow along. They can ask questions, and try their hand at it as well. It's a great experience. If you'd be interested in it, pleas message me via the contact form on my author website (it's lame and in progress) and let me know. http://georgiamcbride.com/home/contact/ I'm available beginning late October to early November.
Cheers-
Georgia

Permalink Reply by Neisa Hutson on October 30, 2011 at 6:14pm The woman doing my book is a low price, but good from what I see. She's got the degree and has done editing in the past. She's with a publishing company, but also freelances. She gave me a really good price considering how long my novel is.
She also does things like helping you create a query letter or first page edits.
