Hello, it's fun but rather daunting to meet a whole new group of people. My name is Katrina, and I'm hoping to graduate from the Institute of Children's Literature in the next month or so, and get my work in better order for publication.

Lovely to be here!
Hello Sri and welcome to this forum. There's so much here to help you on your way to being published.

Hi everyone I'm new to YALITCHAT and hope to get connected with some other "aspiring" writers hoping to get published, or just writing and reading for fun :) My blog is at: http://snapdragonsun.blogspot.com where I write book reviews and also eco-friendly articles. I'm also a junior editor on a fansite for one of my favorite tv shows, anything else just ask!
Hi Katrina,

Great to meet you and look forward to getting to know you here on yalitchat.

Hello fellow writers/readers!

What an amazing network of like-minded creatives here:) I'm hoping to learn lots and contirubte what I can.

A bit about me: I'm a full time working mom ( 2boys!) and married to my best friend. Outside of my day job, I teach creative writing workshops for young adults (inspired by my oldest son to begin this venture!) and I write novels, short stories and a column for The Motherhood Muse. I also blog. Oh, yeah, and sleep. I love to sleep, or at least aspire to one day.

My current project is revising the beast that I call a completed mss via NaNoWriMo circa 2008. One. page. at. a. time.

I write realistic fiction with an edge for the older YA/teen market and hope to turn this gig into a full time income someday.

Hi everyone!

I've heard about #yalitchat for a while but it's only now that I decided to jump right in. This is such a welcoming and active community, I'm not sure why I waited this long!

I'm still a college student, majoring in professional and creative writing with a minor in communications. But I also do some writing and social media marketing for three stores. Sometimes, all the writing and reading can drive me insane. But then I think about how I want to be a literary agent and insanity seems a-okay. I'm also aspiring to be a YA author writing magic realism. (I have a thing for superpowers.)

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Aspiring editor of a big published house here! Or literary agent--depends. I'm majoring in English and minoring in professional writing. I'm not going to list all of what I do outside of my major in minor, but it's great to have you here! Insanity is awesome. I just finished taking humanities (probably the most insane class I've ever taken), and I had TONS of reading to do everyday coupled with quizzes every single day. It's basically three classes smashed into one. But I somehow was able to manage that on top of the other stuff that I do that's going to help me accomplish my ultimate career goal...lol.

But, as you said, all this insanity is totally worth it.

Hi Amber! Glad to meet an aspiring editor (or maybe lit agent)!

I have to ask...how many times have you received the question "You want to be a what?" after telling people your major? I swear, I think it's the second most popular question I'm asked after "So...you want to be a writer?" Now, of course I want to be a writer. But when I tell them I also want to be a literary agent they give me a confused look in addition to "You poor, crazy, nowayyoucanmakemoneylikethat girl" head nod. And when I explain what a literary agent does and how there's more to the book publishing than, you know, writers, they begin to back away with a "Please stop talking you poor, crazy, nowayyoucanmakemoneylikethat girl" smile. Of course, this is all after they joke about how English majors have it so easy compared to science majors or something like that.

But maybe I'm the only who experiences that?

Anyway, what I'm really trying to say is thank you for the welcome. I'm glad to be in a place where people not only understand the insanity but are also a part of it. =)
