Permalink Reply by Anna Ursula Mormack on October 7, 2011 at 3:41pm Hi everyone. I write 20th century preteen and YA historical fiction series, and have some soft sci-fi/futuristic books on hiatus. Next month makes it 20 years since I created the first of my Atlantic City characters, who feature in four different series. The first starts in 1938, the second in June 1941, the third in December 1941, and the fourth in December 1943. I've never had a problem keeping track of so many characters, generations, and at times overlapping timelines. I literally grew up with my characters, since I was only 11 years old when they came to be.
I was very briefly querying for two of my books 10-11 years ago, and now I'm querying again for a variety of books. Since my adult historical novels are very, very long by modern standards (deliberate sagas in the 300,000-word range), I've come to think it might be best to publish the much shorter preteen/YA books first. There's also a bit of a spoof element in my Atlantic City books. The second series in particular is meant to be humorous.
I write under the pen name Carrie-Anne, simply because I've never really liked my first name.

Permalink Reply by K. L. Gore on October 16, 2011 at 12:33pm Hi everyone! I'm excited to find this site, thanks to reading people's Tweets. (Many of you may find I am now following you on Twitter, so I'm excited to be able to keep up with what everyone is working on.)
I am a YA contemporary writer represented by Michelle Andelman of Regal Literary. I am also a mom to two young boys and working toward my Masters in Creative Writing. I blog and teach creative writing community education classes on the side, and facilitate two writers groups...one on-line and one at my local Barnes and Noble. So I'm busy, to say the least! But I'm thrilled to connect with other YA writers.

Glad you hear you're excited to be here! We're excited to have you. Looking forward to working with you.

Hi L.K. Yes. I saw your follow. Thanks. I think I followed you back, but am having some Twitter issues, so if I didn't it wasn't because I didn't try.
Welcome to YALitChat.
Hi all , Thanks for the invite . Glad to be here in this community.

Permalink Reply by Reagan Leigh on October 20, 2011 at 1:44pm Hi everyone! What a great community! I know I'll learn so much from all that YALITchat has to offer!
I just joined and am looking forward to the experience. I am an unpublished beginner who refuses to let go and put my MS out there. But now's the time. I can't hold on to it forever, right?!
So, here I am, ready to tie up the last bits of editing and work towards writing an awesome query. I've been working on my urban fantasy novel for 2 years, and battle most with the sheer number of words I didn't know I possessed. Cutting back has been trying, and I feel it's still not short enough to hook an agent (being a first-timer).
I've begun a blog for my book (permanentya.wordpress.com), in my characters' POVs, and am new to that as well. I'm hoping with kids and renovating an old home, I can find time to keep up with everything. No better way to feel alive, then to have an overflowing plate!
Looking forward to meeting everyone, as I'm sure this is great company to keep!
Reagan
