In my current WIP I am dealing with older teenagers. I only plan on them kissing, giving each other a hicky of sorts and hugging but I want to make it sexy. Does anyone know of any YA books to recommend that does this well in the midst of a very action packed story? I want to make sure mine isn't too mature for them. The WIP I am doing is an adventure story, but I built some romantic tension/relationship between the characters. Not too much to turn off the boys, but just enough to keep the girls very intrigued.

Hey Linda, email me the name of your novel and I'll check it out. I believe if it's done with reason it should be fine. Some of the graphics can be taken out to focus on the feeling of the characters.
Chapter 13 to 16 and chapter 21 in the munroe mansion - the beginning on authonomy

I just finished Perfect Chemistry, and is's amazing. Apparently the kids want to read this kind of stuff, and she delivers, but in a very appropriate way. Check it out-I've read it twice in three days--it's that good!
today on the blog - let's explore whether our heroines should be more hesitant to dive into their romances than we typically see in YA. http://jessie-harrell.blogspot.com/

the munroe mansion ( i was half asleep in last post the mansion on the hill hasn't been posted on authonomy yet, sorry about that)

chapters 13 to 16, chapter 21.

I dont get too graphic but you know whats going on.

my question is this TOO graphic for a young adult novel.

I plan to query agents and classify the munroe series as young adult because theres only a few sex scenes where the "virgin slayer" is concerned and several of my characters are sexual predators - serial killers so I have to talk about them having sex.. in the later books (ones im writing now, ive tamed it down to saying they have had sex (no details)

but in book one i do mention oral sex and what they are doing . people that read it, find it okay but they say its a shock because it seems like a family oriented book.

If i take out the graphic scenes and just say they had oral sex, will that be okay for 13 and above readers?

just wondering where I can find some guidance in this matter. thanks.

I have several sex scenes in my YA book, and I'm not sure if it's too graphic or not?

the munroe mansion ie chapter 13 to 16 and chapter 21 - 23

I can tone it down if I need to but some of my characters have to be sexual because
they are predators, serial killers in the story line

If any of you need age related beta's my daughter loves to beta and has beta read for other YA authors. She gives good honest feedback and does it for free :-D

Cool that you have age relevant betas. I've managed to find two but am waiting for the summer holidays to kick in here for them to do some reading (about another fortnight or so) for feedback.

Good luck with your scenes.
